Helping youth find the path to a healthy and productive life.
Youth 180 was formed in 1984 by civic leaders who wanted to address a rising tide of adolescent drug and alcohol use in North Texas. Called Dallas Challenge until 2018, the organization has served more than 200,000 children and parents.
What we do:
We address the risks and behaviors that can derail youth by guiding and giving them hope for the future, facts and skills they need to know, and a community of support. These are the keys our programs provide to help youth find the path to a healthy and productive life.
All young people need guidance and skills to stay on the right path. Unresolved trauma, parenting issues, peer pressure, poverty and other forces can increase the challenges. Many youth try to solve these challenges in unhealthy ways - using drugs or alcohol to numb emotional or physical pain, engaging in illegal activities to be part of a group of friends, or simply holding in their feelings so they become severely depressed and unable to participate in school and other everyday kid activities.
